Chess Game Viewer

This post demonstrates some of the possibilities of the Chess Game Viewer. It contains two chess boards as well as NAG symbols, comments and variations.

16. Qe2

1.e4 c5 2.f4

The Grand Prix Attack of the Sicilian

2...e6 3.Nf3 d5 4.Bb5+ Bd7 5.Bxd7+ Nxd7 6.e5 Nh6 7.c3 Be7 8.d4 c4 9.O-O b5 10.Be3 Nf5 11.Qe2 Nxe3 12.Qxe3 h6 13.Nbd2 a5 14.h3 Nf8 15.Nh2 Nh7 16.Qe2 = g5?!

After 16...Qd7 the position is still equal

17.f5 exf5 18.Rxf5 O-O 19.Qh5 Ra6 20.Ng4 Qb6

The remaining moves of this game will be shown in the second diagram for which I will use a different background.

21. Raf1

21.Raf1 Qe6 22.R1f3 b4 23.Nf1 bxc3 24.bxc3 Qg6 25.Ng3

( 25.Qxg6+ Rxg6 26.Nge3 looks even more interesting. )

25...Kg7 26.Ne3 Qe6 27.Ng4 Qg6 28.Qxg6+ fxg6 29.Rxf8 Nxf8 30.Ne3 Ne6 31.Nxd5 Ba3 32.Rf6 Bc1 33.Ne4 Nc7?

( 33...Ba3 does not help either, but is a far better move )

34.Nxc7 Ra7 35.Nd6 Kh7 36.Nde8 Be3+ 37.Kf1 Bd2 and now the mate becomes clear 38.Rf7+ Kg8 39.e6 Bxc3 40.Nf6+ Kh8 41.Rh7# 1-0

Btw the game above is the game Lewis William - Wilson Harry Slater and it was played in 1819.
